Knife and axe throwing can serve a kind of microscope for body functions. When throwing knifes and axes, one must watch one's own body to find out, how to produce the precision. By the frequent repetitions, one can observe the process in deep detail. Just a tiny detail with each throw but there are so many throws!
Consider the system man from a computer programmer's point of view. The system consists of three types of elements: (1) the stiff construction elements (bones), (2) the active propulsion elements (muscles) and (3) the calculating and steering elements (nerves).
|
Bones
The constructing elements of the system. |
|
Muskles
The propulsion elements of the system. |
|
Nerves
The calculating and steering part of the system. |
One single element may perfectly be calculated. But as soon there are more, the calculation is not easy or not at all possible any more.

Bones |
|
The bones are the constructing, stiff elements of the system.
Schematic sceletton.
The bones control the geometry. They are konstant parameters.
A special roll plays the back bone. It consists of many single bones. But we do not control the single bones, but all together as one unit.
So the back bone, consisting of a set of active components as one unit, is a very special 'bone', one with changable attributes. E.g. the center of gravity may be shifted up and down, back and forth, left and right, without shifting the position of hip and throat. (Compare Chapter "Technique - Calcules - Whip")
So the roll a single bone plays, is easy. As stiff part, it follows the simple and strict distance measurement rules. The length just always stays the same.
A very different question is how the bone achieves its shape, over the long term. This aspect is used in design programs for construction parts, as crane jibs. The strategie ist growth under load. This programs are learned by tree growth. It are tree-growing-algorithms.
The growth of a bone is optimized for maximum strength with minimum material. This makes them become moer wide and complicated at the ends. The ends are optimized for maximum movability and minimum friction, often resulting in a sphere-design.

Muscles |
|
The muscles are the populsion elements of the system.
Muscle
At each joint sit two muscles, one for each direction. A muscle can only pull, not push.
If both muscles are active at the same time, noting moves. Though optically not to tell from one another, it makes a difference, whether the muscles are relaxed or attented. One time, a limb dangles from a joint, the other time it is stiff.

Nerves |
|
The nerves are sensing and steering elements in the system.
Nerve cell
The nerve cells serve several distinctive tasks.
How fast do nerve wires transmitt the signal? Perhaps 1 yard each second? Then a direct communication between hand and foot during a throw would not be possible, because a throw movement last only 0.1 second.
