Chapter Introduction -

War technique

Logo of subtitle

Knife and axe throwing as fighting mean is rarely used. Perhaps it is on the schedule of a few specialized fighters, but surely not as the mean of choice, only as a mean of last ressort.

For a real self defense situation, I think, a knife throw is not recommendable. A knive causes not enough, the knife is gone, the enemy escapes or becomes aggressive even more.

An axe might cause more harm than a knife - but no one carries an axe. Only consider the weight and the size! People who want effective weapons, take guns today, which are unfortunably widespread in all sizes all over the world.

In former times (about 400 through 800 AD) the Francisca axe was used as an awsome throwing weapon. It was used to crack the shields of the enemy line in the very first moment. So this weapon might be called the "anti- tank- missile" of that time (see "Appendix (A) Throwing Devices - Axes - Francisca").

When thinking about weapons, the main topic must be avoiding there use, means the prevention of violence. People ready for violence hardly have the patience for long time training to learn acrobatic skills. So, good luck, we axe and knife throwers are mostly exempt from such kind of folks. Thank goodness!
