As prerequisite, you must be able to hit the target with a ball. This you will master soon.

Direction and height.

This goes, until you can throw an object in a desired direction. The rotation of the object doesn't play a role.

The rotation is purely statistical. This phase even an untrained person reaches after a few test throws. The horizontal precision is mostly better than the vertical.

If you master the ball throwing, you go on for knife throwing.
