The movement of the body during a throw is a complicated thing, too big to be calculated as a whole. One cannot say completely, which sensor activates which muscle after which sensation. But one can pick out single elements of the system and analyse separately. Understanding one single atomic element is better than nothing. With each throw you can catch one glimps at one such element.
Power
The power input influences the flight on several ways. |
Ballistics
The very basics of throwing. Desribes the trajectory of a ball or bullet. |
The rotation
The first problem, a knife thrower deals with. The rotation around the center of gravity is superpositioned to the balistic trajectory. |
Pendulum and Doublependulum
Two movable conneted masses make a pendulum. E.g. the forearm and the axe are movable connected by the wrist. |
The whip principle
The whip translates low speed of high mass into high speed of low mass. |
Micro throws
Calibrating the device before the throw. |
Gravity
How to determine the vector of gravity. |
Equilibrium and buojancy
Balancing and floating, the unstable equilibria |
Parallaxe
The throwing hand is at a distance beside the eyes. The view of the eyes and the view of the device is different. This difference describes the parallaxe. |
Redundancy
One throw may be executed on many ways with the same effect. Choosing one of many possible ways is an own point of attention. |
Symmetry
All devices may be casted into one of a set of symmetry classes. The symmteriy influences the freedoms when handling. |
Lever
If the center of gravity of the device is outside the grip. |
Friction
The friction keeps the device in hand. |
Breathing
The breathing gives the basic frequency. |
Wedge
Considerations, how the point of the device penetrates the surface of the target to stick best. |
Sound
The sound of the hit gives much information about the quality of the throw. |
With this list of calculation elements at hand, you may choose one element at each throw, watch it, inspect in and maybe influence it. All those elements play a roll in determining the trajectory and the rotation. If one of them is handicaped, thanks to redundancy, its function may be substituted by others.
