From Grip to Throw -
Step 2: Propeller |
|
No grip anymore, but a real throw plus catch. But you have still the following facilitations: The ongoing is ideally to watch, because the rotation is square in the view. The hand is in an ideal catching position. You can withdraw your hand eventually.
This lets you study the maintainance of constancy of rotations.
| Exercise this throw only, if you master the previous step with routine! |

(1) Starting position vertically. From here you go somewhat back to have an onset, as it in the Frisbee Figure, only vertical, not horizontal any more.
(2) The difficulty now is to nudge the device with the correct amount of power, that it flies not too high and not too low, and not away, but that it stands still.
(3) During the float of the device through the apex of the trajectory, you have to decide, whether it flies correctly, and you will catch it later, or something goes wrong, and you will escape and drop it.
(4) The catching must be sensitive. The device does not plop into the hand, but the hand comes 'slowly' closer, on a spiral fitting beside the rotation. By this, even now it is still possible to notice a failure and to escape.
(5) Pack, break and return to the starting position. Voila.
The new feature here is the fast and secure decision, whether your hand goes for catching, or it escapes. Catching is only done, when the catching grip is fully clear, and not the smallest disturbation or uncertainity exists.
Catching a rotating knife is dangerous. But your device is not sharp, so you have to fear only the point. If the device is not too heavy or too dirty, it will not do severe harm.
| Warning Do not exercise this with sharp knifes! |
