Kitchen Axe

Logo of chapter

A kitchen axe is often the first axe one gets in hand. And it is not so bad for throwing.

Cheap kitchen axe from the supermarket, already a little bit loose.

The worst thing with the cheape axe is the lousy handle, which will easily break. But sooner or later, this will be the same with an expensive axe. And if you have to replace the handle anyway, you will have the opportunity as well to "tune" your axe, as you can read below.

Cool trick # 20010629
The Kitchen Francisca
Trick for most easily optimizing a cheap kitchen axe for throwing.
(Supported by guest author Artur 2001.)
When looking at the design of the fracisca in "Appendix (A) Throwing Devices - Axes - Francisca" immediately one question rises: What's wrong with that design? The point shows forward. Aha! With the kitchen axe ... a minor switch in the design ... just apply the handle from the wrong end ... Voila!

Kitchen Francisca, made from a Five-Mark supermarked kitchen axe, with just a tiny switch in the design.

And more sophistikated, with some grinding applied, the thing looks even more like a francisca.
